ICPL Curbside Pickup Program

Curbside pickup in four easy steps!

I. Place a hold on an item. Though our doors are not open yet, patrons can place holds online through our catalog or over the phone (906-486-4381).

II. Wait for confirmation that your order is ready. Patrons will receive a call when their order is ready to be scheduled for pickup.

III. Schedule pickup. When you receive confirmation that your order is ready you can schedule a time for curbside pickup. Pickup is Monday-Friday between the hours of 10am and 4pm. If you haven’t received a call and want to check on the status of your order, patrons can call anytime Monday-Friday from 8am-4pm to talk to a staff member. At this time we are only able to schedule pickup via phone.

IV. Pick up your order on the scheduled day and time. Your order will be placed on a cart located at the top of the handicap ramp that wraps around to the Barnum St. side entrance. Pickups will be scheduled in 15-minute increments. You will be given your order number (1, 2, or 3 to correspond with numbered shelves on the cart) when you schedule pickup. We ask that any returns you may have with you be placed in the dropbox for the time being. If another patron is picking up their order when you arrive, please practice social distancing while retrieving your order. All this is to ensure a safe, no-contact curbside pickup experience.

***If you miss your scheduled pickup and cannot inform the staff ahead of time, the items will be put back into circulation and you must replace the holds and reschedule pickup.


How is the library handling sanitizing surfaces and materials? All returned items are quarantined for 4 days before being checked in or placed in an order ready for pickup. All staff members wear gloves while handling items that have not been quarantined and are required to wash hands or use hand sanitizer frequently. Masks will be warn by staff members when necessary (i.e., when social distancing between staff members is not possible or while placing curbside pickup orders on the cart during times of high traffic). All frequently-touched surfaces will be wiped down throughout the day.

When will the library open its doors? We are actively working on complying with the terms of all executive orders to provide a healthy environment for people to enjoy the library. Curbside pickup is just the beginning! We do not have a specific date for opening our doors, but we will work to enter into future phases of opening as quickly and safely as possible.

What if my schedule doesn’t work with the hours for curbside pickup? We are sorry for any inconvenience when it comes to curbside pickup service hours. We are actively working on expanding our services and our hours. If our availability does not work with your schedule you may designate someone to pick up your order for you. We ask that the library cardholder schedule the pickup day and time, at which point you can inform the staff that someone else will be picking up your materials.

Which materials are available for checkout? All ICPL materials are available for checkout – even DVDs! Interlibrary and MeL loans are not available at this time.

***Tax forms, Book Page magazine, and FOL newsletters are available upon request while supplies last and can be bundled in with your curbside order. Please let us know if you wish to include any of these materials in your order at the time of scheduling your pickup.

How can I pay my fines? Patrons will not accrue fines on items checked out during COVID-19 restrictions. If you have questions about previously-accumulated fines, please give us a call (906-486-4381). We will not be handling cash during curbside services. However, all online services are still available, including online bill pay.

Can I donate books during this time? The library will not be accepting book donations at this time.
