Summer Reading Program

Welcome to Ishpeming Carnegie Public Library’s 2021 Summer Reading Program. The program will take place June 7th through July 31st and children of all ages (from babies to teens) are encouraged to join. Join us for a summer of fun featuring a mix of passive and in-person programming. Follow the ICPL Facebook page for more details and to see all the fun events that are happening!

How do I participate?

  1. Beginning June 8th, you can visit the library to pick up your Summer Reading Program Kit! The kit includes reading logs, challenges and other fun goodies.
    • Summer Reading Kickoff–Join us in the lot outside of the children’s room entrance to celebrate the first week of summer reading. You will get your kit and choose a free book.
      • Tuesday, June 8 @ 10am – 12pm
      • Thursday, June 10 @ 4pm – 6pm
    • Can’t make these times? No problem–kits will be available for pickup inside of the Library during open hours.
  2. Prefer a digital log to paper copies? Sign up for Summer Reading on Wandoo Reader! This is the same program we used last year. This program gives parents, children, and teens the ability to digitally track minutes spent reading as they work towards reaching both their own personal goal and helping to meet a community-wide goal. In addition to logging your reading, there are also art and writing challenges to complete in order to earn virtual badges and points which can be used in the storyline and Avatar theme of Wandoo. The Family Management Portal feature allows parents to log reading for family members in one spot.
  3. You may also view or print our Summer Reading Materials here:
    1. The Reading Log allows you to set your own goal. You will color in a book each time that you hit your goal. Additional activities include writing and art challenges that you can complete to earn brag tags and prize entries.
    2. For more fun reading challenges, try our Summer Reading Bingo or Junior Summer Reading Bingo and earn brag tags.
    3. For some outdoor fun, go on our Scavenger Hunt.
    4. Check out this fun Crossword Puzzle for kids.
  4. Check out our events that we have happening throughout the summer in our Summer Reading Event Highlights flyer.

We will be posting additional activities on our Facebook page throughout the summer, so keep an eye out!

Submit your materials, or finalize your Wandoo log, by August 14th for brag tags and prize entries.

Thank you for participating and have fun!

We are incredibly grateful for the support of our community and extend a huge thank you to our donors.
