ICPL Summer Reading Program Begins June 11th

The Ishpeming Carnegie Public Library (ICPL) is happy to announce that their annual Summer Reading Program is set to begin on June 11th! This year’s summer reading theme is “Adventure Begins at Your Library.”   

ICPL’s Summer Reading Program is open to all ages—babies through adults are welcome to participate in the fun! An eight-week long reading challenge will run from June 11th to August 3rd. Individuals can pre-register for the challenge online by downloading the Beanstack app or visiting ishpeminglibrary.beanstack.org. Participants are entered for prizes by logging their reading, writing reviews, and attending library programs.

In addition to the reading challenge, the library has an exciting lineup of programs happening throughout the summer. To kick off Summer Reading on June 11th, individuals can visit the library to register for the program and choose a free book. Other programs happening throughout the summer include a Foraging 101 Panel with Partridge Creek Farm on Thursday, June 13th at 5:30pm at the library where foraging basics and plant and fungi identification will be discussed. On Tuesday, June 18th at 11am, children’s author Kelsey Gross will be visiting for a storytime featuring her new book, Summer: A Solstice Story. On Tuesday, June 25th at 11am, award-winning Paleontologist, Paleo Joe will be at the library to take kids on an adventure to learn about dinosaurs and fossils. The Michigan Geocaching Organization will lead a presentation on how to get started in the sport of geocaching on Thursday, June 27th at 12pm. Our Friends of the Library Used Book Sale will be held at the library on Friday, July 5th from 10am-4pm. On Thursday, July 18th at 11am, the Michigan DNR will be at the library to lead kids through the process of identifying animal tracks! Award-winning author Bonnie Jo Campbell will be here on Friday, July 19th at 4pm for a presentation and book signing featuring, The Waters. On Wednesday, July 24th at 5:30pm, Mike Fornes will be at the library to give a presentation about “101 Things That Have Happened on the Mackinac Bridge.” These are just some of the events happening throughout the summer, so please visit the library or check out ishpeminglibrary.info for more information about all the events happening. It will be a summer full of fun for all ages!
