FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Celebrate National Library Week April 23-29, 2023
(ISHPEMING, MI) – The Ishpeming Carnegie Public Library encourages all community members to visit the library during National Library Week, April 23-29, to explore all they have to offer. National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association and celebrates libraries of all types across the country each April.
Most people know about the wealth of stories available at the library, from picture books and large print to audiobooks and ebooks. But there’s so much more to the story of libraries.
Libraries are welcoming spaces that bring communities together for entertainment, education, and connection through book clubs, storytimes, movie nights, crafting classes, presentations, and more. The Ishpeming Carnegie Public Library offers a wide array of programs, classes, and resources all year long.
During National Library Week, the library will hold its well-attended Tot Tuesday preschool storytime on Tuesday, April 25th at 11am. This program features stories, songs, and crafts perfect for preschoolers. Then from 3pm-5pm on April 25th, we will be holding a book fair for teens. Teens and YA book lovers can visit the library to pick out free books to keep from a selection of new teen book releases. On Wednesday, April 26th, which is National Library Outreach Day, the library will be visiting the Ishpeming Senior Center from 11am – 1pm to sign individuals up for library cards and share resources that are available at the library. Also, on April 26th from 4:30pm-6:30pm, the library will be showing the movie “A Man Called Otto” in the Ray Leverton Community Room at the library. While you are here, check out our newly opened Seed Library, which is encouraging gardening and sustainability within the community. On Friday, April 28th at 11am, Little Explorers will be held in the children’s room, which is a sensory program for ages 0-5. Then on Saturday, April 29th from 11am-1pm, there will be a special drop-in craft available for kids to make pastel tulips. This lineup of events showcases the range of resources and programs that are regularly offered by the library to support its community.
Nicole Johnson, Librarian at the Ishpeming Carnegie Public Library states that to her, “National Library Week is all about continuing to showcase how libraries are there to support their communities through the programs and resources that are available.”
Stop by the library for a visit to celebrate with them during National Library Week, April 23-29. Check out the Ishpeming Carnegie Public Library’s active Facebook page and visit their website at ishpeminglibrary.info.
