September is Library Card Sign-up Month!

(ISHPEMING, MI) – Celebrate Library Card Sign-up Month this September with the Ishpeming Carnegie Public Library! We’re inviting everyone to discover the incredible resources and opportunities available at your local library by signing up for a library card. Whether you’re looking to enhance your skills, find valuable information, or connect with fellow avid readers, a library card unlocks a world of possibilities. Library cards for the Ishpeming Carnegie Public Library are available for free to residents living within the City of Ishpeming and surrounding townships including: Champion, Ely, Humboldt, Ishpeming, and Tilden townships. Also, if you are a Negaunee resident with a Negaunee Library Card, you are eligible to sign up for an Ishpeming card as well.

Today’s libraries are vibrant community centers offering much more than just books. At the Ishpeming Carnegie Public Library, you’ll find diverse programs, book clubs, author talks, storytimes, crafting classes, presentations, and more. Throughout the month of September, the library will continue to offer an expansive lineup of programs. Our popular Tot Tuesday Storytime will start back up on Tuesday, September 3rd at 11am and will continue to meet every Tuesday at 11am in September. On Wednesday, September 4th at 5:30pm, there will be a presentation on Carnegie Libraries of Michigan! In Michigan, 61 of these libraries were built throughout both peninsulas in the early 1900s, and you are invited to come learn about their impact on the communities in which they were built. Silent Book Club will meet at the library on Saturday, September 7th at 2pm and individuals are invited to read silently for 1 hour followed by time to socialize and talk about books. On Saturday, September 14th, join us for a Books and Badges Storytime with Chief Radabaugh of the Ishpeming Police Department. Children in attendance will receive a free copy of the book, “If You Give a Pig a Party” by Laura Numeroff. On Friday, September 20th at 2pm, individuals are welcome to come to a Tai Chi Class at the library lead by certified instructor, Irina Tarbeeva. On Wednesday, September 25th at 6pm, our horror book club will meet at the library to discuss the title, Boys in the Valley by Philip Fracasi.

Nicole Johnson, Librarian at the Ishpeming Carnegie Public Library states that to her, “Library Card Sign-Up Month is all about showcasing the different kinds of resources that are available to community members with their library card and making sure that the community knows that we are here to serve them!”

Stop by the library for a visit to celebrate with them during Library Card Sign-Up Month. Check out the Ishpeming Carnegie Public Library’s active Facebook page and visit their website at ishpeminglibrary.info.
